Current and Upcoming Sewing Classes

Wednesdays
Serger Owner’s Classes

threading a serger

When you purchase a serger (or any machine!) at Let’s Sew, owner’s classes are included with your purchase for free.

We understand that machines have changed a lot in the past few years or that you may have never sewn on a serger. That’s why when you purchase your new Baby Lock serger at our shop, we include owner’s classes on how to use it for free.

Machine Owners Classes Cover the Basics

We will go over all the basics of your new serger and teach you how to use all of its functions. Once you have taken your owner’s class, you may take it again anytime. There is no limit on how many times you may take these complimentary classes.

All machine owners classes are by appointment on the suggested day (Wednesday for serger machine owner’s classes) and are dependent on staff availability and/or other regularly scheduled classes. Some machines may have more than one owner’s class available.

Here is a listing of all Baby Lock serger machines we have sold or currently sell at Let’s Sew.

  • Proline
  • Cover Stitch
  • Lauren
  • Diana
  • Imagine
  • Eclipse CX
  • Enlighten

You can schedule your serger machine owner’s class when you purchase your machine at our store. If you would like to wait, please stop in-store or call to schedule your class.

Let It Snow wall hanging

Let It Snow

The Kimberbell “Let It Snow!” wall hanging class is a fun, four-week, block-of-the-week project. Read on for more details!

When Does It Start?

Our “official” day to pick up kits will be on Saturdays beginning October 14, 2017, and ending on Nov. 11, 2017. Bring in your finished Wall Hanging anytime from Nov. 18 through Nov. 21, 2017, for a special prize!

How Does It Work?

We will be utilizing a “punch card” system for completing your blocks on time each week! This is going to be fun! You’ll receive your official Let It Snow! Punch Card when you pick up your first block on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017. When you bring back your finished block the next week, you’ll get a special punch or stamp on that card. At the end of the event, you’ll be able to “redeem” those cards for a special prize!

What If I Don’t Get My Block Completed By The Next Week?

If the blocks come back late (later than the following Tuesday after the very next class) you’ll be able to pick up your next kit, but your card won’t be punched. We are excited to see your blocks and also give you a little incentive to not have any “unfinished projects!” 🙂

Who designed this class?

It’s important to note that these patterns have been created by Kim Christopherson of “Kimberbell Designs”. Please respect copyright by not sharing these weekly patterns with others. Thank you!

What Does The Let It Snow Wall Hanging Class Cost and Cover?

The sign-up fee is $40 per person and includes all four week’s patterns and fabric kits for each section of the wall hanging. Borders, binding, and backing will need to be purchased separately. There will also be a bit of fusible applique in this project. Approximately 1-1/2 yards of fusible web will need to be purchased if you do not already have this.

When Does the Class Meet?

You are welcome to pick up your kit on the dates listed below. We will be doing a short demo starting at 9 a.m. on each date. The demo will last no more than one hour.

Intro to Sewing (Beginners)

Intro to Sewing class apron

Interested in learning (or re-learning if it’s been awhile!) how to sew? Join us in our Intro to Sewing class to learn the basics of sewing.

This class will go over getting comfortable at a sewing machine – it’s not as scary as it looks, we promise! – basic stitches and seams. You’ll also learn correct pressing and pinning techniques.

Kits are provided, which is our way of saying everything you need to create a skirt apron (pictured above) will be here waiting for you. Our sewing classroom is stocked with Baby Lock sewing machines, cutting mats, rotary cutters and irons to make this intro course fun and easy.

Why create a skirt apron? We chose this project because the gingham (checkered) fabric gives you good, built-in guidelines to help you sew a straight seam. The skirt apron pattern also uses simple sewing techniques and seams that you’ll be able to use and build on for future projects.

Note: Our store is a FRAGRANCE-FREE zone. Please be courteous of other students and staff when attending class and do not use fragrances. Thank you!
